TKS Motorsports and Tasker Phillips secure first top-ten of 2022 season

MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (June 20, 2022) - The decision to venture north to the state-of-the-art Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, proved to be well worth the time and miles for Mitchellville, Iowa’s TKS Motorsports and newly hired gun Tasker Phillips, as the team went on to record their first top-ten score of the season, doing so during opening night of the Border Battle on Friday, June 17.
Phillips, who made his TKS Motorsports debut one weekend prior in Knoxville Raceway’s Brownells Big Guns Bash featuring the World of Outlaws, finished eighth in his top-ten appearance at Jackson, maintaining his place amongst the NOSA frontrunners after starting fifth on the evening grid.
Despite attempts to maintain momentum the following evening, round two of Jackson’s Border Battle did not go as planned for Phillips, forced to retire after an incident on the opening lap.
“It feels good to finally get that first top-ten of the season. The year hasn’t been too kind to us, but we keep digging and that’s all anyone can do,” Troy Renfro, TKS Motorsports team owner, said. “I can’t say enough about this team. We’ve had just about anything and everything thrown at us this year, but we keep our heads up and keep moving forward. Big things are ahead for this team…we just have to break through and get there.”

TKS Motorsports and Tasker Phillips will continue their 2022 campaign with an off weekend before returning to weekly competition at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, July 2.
